make every day matter

We're empowering a new generation of change makers, every day

Our Mission

Beam is on a mission to make every day meaningful. To start, we're building connections between retail brands and young customers by turning your purchases into a way to tangibly impact the current social issues that matter to you.

For profit and for purpose

We partner with awesome brands that believe in the causes you do and think that giving back to things their customers (you) care about, too, is the best way to build long-term relationships.

Our Founders

Viveka Hulyalkar has been working in social impact since she was 15, when she founded an environmental nonprofit that installed a million dollars worth of solar panels in Cleveland, OH schools with support from the NBA and the Cleveland Cavaliers. After going to college at Brown and working as a retail consultant in McKinsey’s New York Office, she saw that major brands were struggling to hang onto young customers, yet those same customers were looking for brands who supported their values and the causes they cared about. So she created Beam, a way to help awesome, socially responsible brands build more meaningful connections to young customers who care about the same things (and maybe even drive other brands to follow their lead).

Along the way, she met Alex Salvatore. Alex had studied Computer Science at Tufts and was an early iOS engineer at Tinder. A true #productqueen, Alex immediately had a million ideas about ways to make Beam better and build a community. After bonding over a shared love of vegan Mexican food and Ariana Grande, the two became co-founders.
